Supervillain of the Day by Katie Lynn Daniels

supervillain1First of a series featuring Floyd – a reporter with a secret – and his quest to discover why there are no supervillains in London, despite outbreaks all over the world.

Supervillain of the Day is the first in a a series of novels organized in Seasons (6 books / season) – currently in season 2. The novels are self-published on Amazon and if you enjoy them, you can add your own story to the series, as they are supplied under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported.

Even while sticking to certain superhero tropes (generally with tongue firmly in cheek), Supervillain of the Day still manages to puts it’s own interesting spin on the genre.

Generally well written, the story does suffer from excessive dialogue in various places that could have been cleaned up by a good copy-editor, and the melodrama, while often intentional, does slow the story at times. I also found the final confrontation to be disappointingly brief.

Having said that, I’d still still give Katie Lynn Daniels’ Supervillain of the Day three of five stars, and the closing hook is a strong temptation to get the next book.

Happy Reading!
